A Girl of Ten!

A girl of 10, never allowed to fly kites
for it was considered taboo, unconventional…
"Girls don't fly kites...
S he thought, "Why not?"
She loved when the kite took wings
and she took to terrace...
the wings cooling off her flushed cheek!

Neem trees engulfing in an embrace,
"You have come my Dearie...
Come let's fly," it seemed to have said!

She had stolen her brothers kite
It was as if flying alone was an adventure of its kind!
the kite with a little tug just took wings of its own!
Or was it the Wind,
her friend who had taken it to the highest point...
It made her think,
how beautiful it is to fly...

The thought of her mother finding out
was the only thing she was ever scared of!

She has been alone, but never lonely
for the divine mother:
mother nature was always with her...
and when she grew up,
she still found them next to her
soothing and calming,
never leaving her, a part of her as if!

Money and talks of materialistic things
made her uncomfortable...
The only thing she understood it can buy was books!
Yes, those were riches and treasures to her soul
which stays birth after birth and makes you feel at Home!
Words left her daze and drunk,
every word as if a lullaby of return Home!
Bi-Bli-O-Bi-Buli...
