Hanuman Chalisa: The forty Chaupais of Lord Hanuman! (Translation)

Purifying the mind with dust of lotus feet Lord Ram,
  the soul sings, unblemished glory, of that Raghuraj Ram.
One who bestows fruits four-fold:
Dharma, Artha, Kama and Liberation well-known!

Considering me foolish,
Harken son of Wind God! Almighty, Hanuman!
Bless me with strength, intelligence and knowledge,
removing the imperfection in me, calm this restless mind!

Victory to Almighty Hanuman,
Master who is to an ocean of Wisdom and Virtues!
Victory to the King of Monkeys,
who illuminates all three worlds!

Messenger of Lord Ram,
possessor of incomparable strength...
Son of Anjani at times,
blessings of Vayu, “Son of Wind,” you are called!

Mahavir, the greatest, among brave and deeds
Remover of ruthless thoughts,
a companion, of good deed you are known!

Transparent-resplendent, physique indomitable,
Ear rings and curly hair, you are adorned with!

Mighty hands; powerful and strong…
Flag of success, you carry all along!
Sacred munja thread, your shoulder is adorned with!

Reflection of Shiva, Son of Keshari, the king,
inheritor of majestic aura, revered you are…
throughout the world!

Epitome of Knowledge: Wise, Virtuous and Clever…
Keen to work for Lord Ram, all being that, One Ram!
Hearing his holy name, your soul finds bliss,
Ram, Lakshman and Sita,
resides in whose mind, heart and soul!

As Dwarf you present yourself,
in front of Sita, the Goddesses!
Bhima form, the ogres you slay…
effortlessly completing the task of Lord Ram, thus!

Fetching Sanjeevani, helped heal Lakshman, back to life,
Overwhelmed with joy,
Sri Raghu veer embrace you close!
Rama, the descendant of Raghuraj,
praises you profusely, thus:

“Thou art dearest, as brother, Bharata!”

"Your glory and splendor, will be sung by many,"
saying this he embraced him again!

Sanak sage with Brahma, Narad, Sharad,
Yama, Kubera and God of eight directions…
Fail to narrate, the infinite glory of such greatness!

Rendering a great service to Sugrivaha,
help him meet Lord Ram and his kingdom!

Vibhisan, when followed your suggestion
eventually, came to be known as King of Lanka!

Sun God, situated miles and miles away from earth
yet swallowing it as sweet food,
shows your greatness, Oh Mahavir Lord!

Placing the ring of Lord Rama in your mouth,
it’s no wonder you crossed the Ocean, so long!
All unattainable tasks in the world
becomes easier when one has your blessings,
Mahavir, the Lord!

Custodian at the door of Lord Ram,
entrance to which you are the key!

Bliss can be felt, when one takes refuge in you...
Protector, as and when you stand
petrified, what should be ever of, anything or anyone!

 

 And, when you roar out loud, remembering your powers
Three worlds tremble, terrorized all stand!
Ghosts, devils and evil-doers, do not venture near
on hearing the sole name of Lord Mahavira!

 

 Destroying ailment and eliminating suffering and pain
when one takes to chanting, the name of valiant Hanuman!
Liberating us, from all kind of adversities
Remember him, if we: with pure heart, action and words!

 

  Amongst the supreme King is Lord Rama
effortlessly completing his task!
And who-so-ever comes to you, with wishes untold
Will find their wishes fulfilled, in this very birth!

 

All the four yugas, a witness to your glory
well-known and illuminating, throughout the world!
Protector to mendicants and saints
Destroyer of demons, dearest to Lord Ram!

 

Bestower of eight Sidhis and nine Nidhis
Boon bestowed to you, by Mother Janaki herself!
The devotion of Lord Rama is your treasure
to be known as herald of Lord Ram, your pleasure!

Your devotion, reaches Lord Ram
Pain and suffering of all births, one forgets!
In the end, abode of Lord Ram as one takes
Birth as devotee to Lord Hari, one celebrates!

 

Even if one doesn’t contemplate on other God,
and thinks of You, Hanuman!
You bring bliss not only in this world,
but that which lies beyond!

 

 Liberated from all kinds of pain and suffering,
one who listens to the name of Great Hanuman!
Victorious thou, Victorious thou, Victorious thou,
Lord Hanuman!

 
May we be blessed with loving grace, as a Guru does
reveling in the knowledge of devotion to Lord Ram!

One who recites Hanuman Chalisa,
liberates from all kind of bondage…
Attaining bliss, by Lord Shiva itself!

 

Doha

Tulsidas a devotee, to Lord Hari, thus prays,
“Make my heart, your Abode,” he says!

"O Son of Wind, Remover of Adversities!
One with an auspicious form, and chief among-st, all Gods!

Reside in our hearts,
along with Lord Ram, Lakshman and Goddesses Sita!"
Jai Shri Ram!!! Jai Hanuman!!!
